Closure: For Standing on Your Feet Again  was inspired by standing on your feet again after surviving an impact that should have ended you. Detroit is the most resilient city I have lived in. Our ability to hustle to any song and create light in the dark moments reflects our ability to weather any storm and look good while doing it. For every one blow our city takes, we stand back up six feet taller. That spirit doesn’t show up just with new development and winning sports teams. It comes from the generations of people who refuse to quit. This piece depicts the spirit of Detroit in front of a sunset, representing the end of a cycle. The mountains are rigid and other-wordly, showing the new worlds we create when we transmute our grief.
