Soul's Journey Through The Darkest Night is informed by my experience in traveling through unknown territory to find my spirit again. After college, I moved back to Detroit and rebuilt my entire life. The small boat fits only the soul, divine gifts, and emblems of protection, which is all I had when I came home. The hand reaching out is my own, representing the longing to return home. While the boat drifts along in the darkness, the sky comes alive and reflects on the water, depicting the northern lights. This is a nod to the guidance of the North Star and Detroit’s codename: Midnight on the Underground Railroad. The full composition speaks to how vibrant, exciting, and necessary it is to allow yourself to traverse your inner mind in solitude.
